Afreximbank Wins Three Awards at 2026 IFLR Africa Awards

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has reinforced its leadership in African finance after securing three major honours at the 2026 IFLR Africa Awards 2026.

The awards, presented in Cape Town, recognise the most innovative financial transactions and institutions across the continent. Afreximbank retained its title as In-house Team of the Year: Financial Institutions for the second consecutive year, underscoring the strength of its legal and financial expertise.

The Bank also received the Impact Deal of the Year award for its role in a US$1.35 billion corporate financing facility for Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG). Acting as one of the mandated lead arrangers, Afreximbank worked alongside international and Nigerian lenders to strengthen NLNG’s capital base and support its expansion, a key driver of Nigeria’s export earnings.

In addition, Afreximbank was recognised for the Projects Infrastructure Deal of the Year for its involvement in the US$1.26 billion Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project.

The Bank, together with First Abu Dhabi Bank, served as mandated lead arrangers on the sovereign-backed financing, which is expected to enhance regional connectivity and trade.

The transactions highlight Afreximbank’s role in delivering innovative and large-scale financing solutions that support infrastructure development and economic growth across Africa.

For the second year running, the Bank has achieved a triple win at the IFLR Africa Awards, building on its strong performance in 2025 and further cementing its position as a key player in advancing intra-African trade.
