APO Group Wins Gold at SABRE Awards for the Second Consecutive Year

APO Group has secured a gold award at the 2026 Africa SABRE Awards, marking its second consecutive win and reinforcing its position as a leading communications consultancy operating across the continent.

The company clinched top honours in the Northern Africa category for its campaign, GITEX Africa Morocco 2025: A Media-Fuelled Journey for Tech Excellence, delivered for GITEX Africa Morocco 2025.

The campaign generated more than 3,600 media clippings across African and international outlets, positioning the event as a premier platform for technology and start-ups while strengthening Morocco’s reputation as an emerging regional technology hub.

Beyond its winning campaign, APO Group was also recognised as a finalist in two additional categories. These included The Africa Flag 2025 Tournament: Raising the Game in Cairo, delivered for the National Football League under the Media Relations category, and Broadcasting Greatness: Elevating African Hoops and Culture at BAL 2025, developed for the Basketball Africa League in the Media, Arts and Entertainment category.

The SABRE Awards celebrate excellence in branding, reputation management and stakeholder engagement across the global communications industry.

This latest recognition builds on APO Group’s growing list of accolades, including its 2025 SABRE win for a campaign executed for Canon Central and North Africa, as well as multiple finalist placements for initiatives supporting organisations such as GITEX Africa, Africa’s Business Heroes and the Global Africa Business Initiative.

Speaking on the achievement, Bas Wijne, Chief Executive Officer of APO Group, said the recognition highlights the value of communications strategies tailored to African markets.

“Being honoured at the SABRE Awards is particularly meaningful because it reflects the impact of communication designed specifically for how African markets work,” he said. “Successful pan-African campaigns combine strategic planning and strong local execution, together with a clear understanding of how different markets, media environments and audiences connect with a story.”

In addition to its SABRE success, APO Group has garnered further industry recognition over the past year, including Gold and Bronze awards at the Davos Communications Awards for excellence in strategic communications and campaign execution.

The firm was also named Africa’s Leading PR Agency 2025 by Brands Review Magazine and Best Public Relations and Media Consultancy Agency of the Year 2025 by World Business Outlook.

Operating across 54 African countries, APO Group provides communications advisory, public relations and media distribution services through its proprietary newswire, Africa Newsroom, which distributes content to more than 250 Africa-focused news platforms globally.

The latest win highlights the company’s growing influence in shaping narratives across technology, sport and culture, while demonstrating the increasing global recognition of Africa-focused communications expertise.
