Roland Berger Acquires Alexec Consulting to Expand Battery Consulting Business
Global strategy consultancy Roland Berger has strengthened its battery consulting capabilities through the acquisition of Alexec Consulting, a Poland-based specialist in operational and technical solutions for the battery and electric vehicle sectors.
The transaction, completed on 9 March 2026, is aimed at enhancing Roland Berger’s expertise in the rapidly expanding global battery industry, which is expected to see investment of between €850 billion and €900 billion across the value chain by 2035.
According to the firm’s projections, global demand for battery cells is forecast to grow by around 12 per cent annually over the next decade, with Europe’s demand increasing even faster at approximately 17 per cent per year.
Marcus Berret, Global Managing Director at Roland Berger, said batteries have become central to modern infrastructure and the global transition towards climate neutrality.
“Batteries are integral to critical infrastructure, data centres and the path towards climate neutrality. The global battery market is reaching a strategic tipping point that requires rapid industrial execution,” Berret said.
He added that integrating Alexec Consulting’s technical expertise would enable the firm to provide stronger support to clients navigating the evolving battery and electric mobility landscape.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Wrocław, Alexec Consulting has built a reputation within the battery ecosystem for delivering specialised services, including battery-cell and system research and development operations, cost optimisation, and factory and supply chain management.
The consultancy has also led several mission-critical projects for major global automotive manufacturers and battery producers.
Idriss Alami, Managing Partner at Alexec Consulting, described the acquisition as a significant opportunity for global expansion.
“Joining forces with Roland Berger is the ideal way for us to scale our business internationally. Through Roland Berger’s global network and strong brand, we gain access to new markets and leading clients,” Alami said.
Jan Wasserbaech, Partner at Alexec Consulting, noted that combining the firm’s technical expertise with Roland Berger’s strategic capabilities would enable the partnership to support the industry across the entire battery production cycle.
“By combining our deep technical DNA with Roland Berger’s strategic excellence, we can now support the industry from the initial concept through industrialisation and factory ramp-up,” he said.
The two firms have previously collaborated on several projects for global industry players. Their integration is expected to create a centre of excellence focused on addressing key challenges within the battery sector, including technical supplier management and large-scale industrial ramp-up initiatives.
Following the acquisition, Alexec Consulting will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity under its existing brand within the Roland Berger network.
