nPerf Introduces 4K Test to Ensure Smooth, Buffer-Free Streaming

nPerf, the global network performance measurement specialist, has launched its first 4K streaming test to better reflect the real-world experience of video users. The update integrates 2160p (4K) resolution across all nPerf platforms, including Android, iOS, and desktop applications.

With the rise of 4K content on OTT platforms, live sports, connected TVs, and cloud gaming, network performance can no longer be measured by simple download speed alone.

According to nPerf’s Chief Technology Officer, “A good speed does not guarantee smooth playback, consistent 4K quality, or the absence of buffering. With 4K streaming analysis, we are evolving network performance measurement toward indicators that are far more representative of today’s usage.”

The test now evaluates the most widely used formats: 720p (HD Ready), 1080p (Full HD), and 2160p (4K/UHD). This allows users and operators to understand how well networks support modern, high-definition content.

In addition, nPerf has introduced a new accelerated “Fast Forward” mode for 720p and 1080p streams. This reduces the test duration by half without compromising accuracy or reliability.

The move comes as five European countries currently lead global network performance rankings. This highlights the growing demand for fast, reliable connections that can support premium video content.
