Access Bank Zambia Commits K500,000 to Support ZAF Expo and Marathon
Access Bank Zambia has contributed K500,000 towards the hosting of the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Expo and Marathon, a flagship initiative aimed at raising K6 million to support vulnerable communities, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to impactful community development across the country.
The announcement was made during the ZAF Expo and Marathon Media Breakfast held in Kitwe, where Access Bank Zambia Managing Director, Iheanyi Nwogu, said the sponsorship reflects the bank’s strong belief that meaningful development is best achieved through partnerships that uplift vulnerable communities and create inclusive opportunities.
“Today, we are pleased to announce our sponsorship of K500,000 towards the Zambia Air Force Expo and Marathon. We make this commitment not merely as sponsors, but as partners in development supporting a cause that aligns with our shared vision,” Dr Nwogu said.
He added that as a regional African brand, Access Bank Zambia remains committed to creating lasting impact in every community it serves, noting that the marathon mirrors the bank’s aspiration to drive positive change, foster inclusivity, and empower individuals to achieve their full potential.
Scheduled to take place from 6 to 7 March 2026 in Ndola, the ZAF Expo and Marathon is a purpose-driven initiative targeting the rehabilitation of Mitanda Home for the Aged and the procurement of desks for learners at Ndola Lions School of the Disabled.
Dr Nwogu said the planned interventions are aimed at restoring dignity, improving learning environments, and strengthening social support systems for those most in need. He further commended the Zambia Air Force for its leadership and vision in bringing together the defence forces, private sector, SMEs, sports enthusiasts, and the general public for a common cause.
“As a longstanding financial services partner of the Zambia Air Force, we have proudly supported the Red Arrows Rugby Club for the past 11 years. Through this partnership, we have seen how sport can inspire young people, build character, and strengthen communities,” he said, adding that extending the partnership through the Expo and Marathon was a natural progression.
Dr Nwogu also emphasised that achieving the K6 million fundraising target would require collective action and strategic partnerships, stating that no single institution can deliver such impact alone.
He expressed confidence that the initiative would meet its financial target while leaving a lasting legacy for the beneficiary institutions.
Speaking at the same event, ZAF Air Commander, Oscar Nyoni, thanked Access Bank Zambia for the support, describing the K6 million target as ambitious but achievable.
“Every kwacha raised will be ploughed back into the local community. It is a measurable commitment to social responsibility,” Lt Gen Nyoni said.
The ZAF Expo and Marathon is expected to attract more than 100 exhibitors, 10,000 visitors, and 2,000 runners, highlighting the scale and ambition of the initiative.
