Puma Energy and BHL Group Sign Five-Year Fuel Logistics Partnership
Puma Energy, Zambia’s leading oil marketing company, and BHL Group, the country’s largest copper hauler, have announced a strategic five-year partnership to optimise regional fuel transport.
Under the agreement, BHL Group will manage the movement of Puma Energy’s fuel from Walvis Bay, Namibia, to Solwezi and other key hubs in Zambia. Return trips will be efficiently used for transporting copper exports, strengthening both supply chains and cross-border trade connectivity.
The partnership is expected to enhance supply security for industrial, mining, and retail customers in Zambia, while bolstering the Zambia-Namibia trade corridor, a critical artery for regional economic growth.
Buks Jansen van Rensburg, CEO of BHL Group, said: “We specialise in providing reliable logistics solutions that drive industrial growth. Our partnership with Puma Energy leverages our capabilities for both copper and fuel transport across Southern Africa.”
Ben Ouattara, Head of Africa at Puma Energy, added: “This collaboration is a vital step in ensuring safe, secure and reliable fuel supplies for our mining and retail customers. The expanded transport routes will strengthen operational resilience and reinforce regional trade.”
The partnership is expected to transport up to three million litres of fuel per month, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in March. All vehicles will be equipped with an In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) to improve driver safety and operational oversight.
