Dr Iheanyi Nwogu Appointed CEO of Access Bank Zambia
Access Bank Zambia has appointed Dr Iheanyi Nwogu as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced earlier today by Ms Anne Sampa, Chairperson of the Board of Access Bank Zambia, and has received approval from both the Board of Directors and the Bank of Zambia.
Ms Sampa said the appointment reflects the Bank’s commitment to strong, credible and visionary leadership as it continues on its path of growth and transformation.
Dr Nwogu brings more than 22 years of banking experience and has been part of the Access Bank Group since 2005. He joined Access Bank Zambia in May 2023, where he has played a key role in consolidating the Bank’s position in the local financial sector.
Prior to his appointment, Dr Nwogu served as Deputy Managing Director for Public Sector and Wholesale Banking and later assumed the role of Interim Managing Director in October 2025.
Under his stewardship, the Bank has strengthened its strategic direction, advanced its digital capabilities and significantly enhanced customer experience.
In his remarks, Dr Nwogu reaffirmed his commitment to talent development, strong corporate governance and positive community impact, pledging to lead the institution with integrity and purpose.
His appointment aligns with Access Bank Zambia’s ambition to become the country’s leading financial institution by 2027.
