Emirates Returns as Official Partner of Hero Dubai Desert Classic in Six-Year Deal

Emirates has announced a major six-year partnership with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, marking its return as an official partner of the Middle East’s oldest professional golf tournament and reinforcing its long-standing support for the sport in Dubai.

First sponsored by Emirates in 1989, the tournament is a flagship event on the DP World Tour and the opening fixture of the prestigious Rolex Series. Played on the iconic Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic has grown into one of the most anticipated events on the global golfing calendar, drawing leading players and fans from around the world.

Under the new partnership, Emirates will receive extensive brand visibility across the tournament, including course signage, scoreboards, buggies, spectator areas and digital platforms. The airline will also deliver premium hospitality experiences, access to Pro-Am events and exclusive experiences for guests.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said the tournament has been central to Dubai’s sporting identity for decades. “The Hero Dubai Desert Classic showcases Dubai’s world-class golf courses and attracts the sport’s biggest names. We’ve been part of that journey since the early days and are proud to continue supporting an event that elevates Dubai’s standing as a global sports destination,” he said.

Executive Tournament Director Simon Corkill welcomed Emirates back, describing the partnership as a reflection of the tournament’s growth. “What began as a showcase of world-class golf has evolved into a broader experience defined by exceptional hospitality and entertainment. These are values we share with Emirates, and together we look forward to delivering an outstanding 37th edition,” he said.

Dubai’s rise as a premier golfing destination has been driven by strategic partnerships, championship events and world-class facilities, with Emirates playing a pivotal role for nearly four decades. The airline is currently associated with 21 golf tournaments across 26 countries and has been the Official Airline Partner of the DP World Tour since 2014.

The 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic will take place from 22 to 25 January, featuring the world’s leading players, including four-time champion Rory McIlroy, competing for a share of the US$9 million prize fund.

Founded in 1989, the Dubai Desert Classic was the first DP World Tour event staged in the Gulf and remains the only GEO-certified golf tournament in the Middle East, underlining its commitment to environmental sustainability. Often referred to as the ‘Major of the Middle East’, the event continues to play a defining role in the region’s golfing legacy.
