THINK! Programme Prepares Graduates for Leadership Roles
The Zambian Government has launched the THINK! Management Development Programme, a private sector–led initiative by Choppies Zambia in partnership with the University of Zambia (UNZA), aimed at nurturing future managers and business leaders.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Hon Elvis Nkandu MP said the programme complements the government’s agenda on human capital development, youth empowerment, and skills training.
He noted that under President Hakainde Hichilema, the government has prioritised youth empowerment through free education, skills development, job creation, and strong public-private partnerships.
Hon Nkandu added that the THINK! Programme addresses the need for work-ready graduates, bridging the gap between classroom learning and workplace demands.
He highlighted the retail sector as a key driver of employment and economic growth, emphasising the importance of trained managers for its continued development.
The 18-month programme targets fresh university graduates and combines theoretical learning with practical training, focusing on leadership, customer service, innovation, technology use, and effective decision-making.
The Minister praised Choppies for investing in youth and UNZA for supporting industry-driven training, urging participants to remain disciplined and committed.
He emphasised that strong collaboration between youth, business, and education is crucial for Zambia’s progress.
