Zambia Sugar Crosses $1B Market Value
Zambia Sugar Plc has reached a historic milestone, becoming the third company on the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) to exceed a $1 billion market capitalisation.
Thirty years after becoming the second company to list on LuSE, Zambia Sugar’s share price has climbed from K48 at the close of the 2025 financial year to approximately K67 per share, representing a near 40% increase. The growth has been supported by the Kwacha’s appreciation, which rose almost 10% since December 2025, reaching a two-year high on 5 January 2026.
Speaking at the 4th Public-Private Dialogue Forum, convened by President Hakainde Hichilema on 12 December 2025, Managing Director Oswald Magwenzi reaffirmed Zambia Sugar’s commitment to driving private sector-led growth and contributing to national development. The company served as the Anchor Sponsor of the forum.
Mr Magwenzi also highlighted that Zambia Sugar is actively implementing projects valued at US$132 million, signalling its continued investment in growth, sustainability, and long-term contribution to the Zambian economy.
