Namibia Assures Visitors of Safety Despite Travel Advisories

The Namibian Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of tourists and visitors following recent travel advisories issued by Canada and Germany, which highlighted potential risks of crime and fraud.

In a joint statement, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, in consultation with the Ministry of International Relations and Trade, reassured the international community that Namibia remains a peaceful and politically stable country, characterised by good governance, functional institutions, and respect for the rule of law.

Authorities highlighted that the country has a dedicated Tourist Protection Unit, which works alongside law enforcement and relevant stakeholders to safeguard tourism areas, urban centres, and popular travel routes.

“Namibia remains open and welcoming to tourists and visitors,” the statement affirmed, encouraging travellers to take general safety precautions and adhere to official guidance to reinforce security measures.

Namibia continues to offer visitors memorable experiences, from its breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife to rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.
