Zambia Showcases Cultural Heritage at National Handicrafts Week in Morocco
Zambia is showcasing its rich cultural heritage and tourism potential at the 9th National Handicrafts Week (SNA 2025), currently underway in Casablanca, Morocco, alongside activities linked to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Morocco 2025).
The Ministry of Tourism is representing the country at the high-profile event, which brings together football fans, cultural buyers, tourism operators, diplomatic missions and business communities from across the continent and beyond. The platform offers Zambia an opportunity to promote its diverse handicrafts, wildlife attractions and adventure tourism experiences to a global audience.
Zambia’s participation is strategically aimed at positioning the country as a leading cultural and tourism destination, while creating opportunities for market access, partnerships and cultural exchange.
The Zambian exhibition has been curated as an immersive cultural and tourism experience, featuring authentic handicrafts from all ten provinces. Each item is clearly linked to its place of origin, allowing visitors to appreciate the country’s geographical diversity, natural resources and deeply rooted cultural traditions.
The event is organised by Morocco’s State Secretariat in charge of Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, in partnership with the Maison de l’Artisan. Dedicated handicrafts spaces have been established within AFCON fan zones in host cities including Rabat, Tangier, Fes, Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir.
The first phase of the 9th National Handicrafts Week is running from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, and features curated exhibition stands, live demonstrations of artisanal skills and interactive activities highlighting the creativity and economic value of traditional crafts.
Zambia is also leveraging the platform to promote its tourism offering, including the Victoria Falls—one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World—alongside its vast wildlife, scenic landscapes and adventure tourism experiences.
More than 300 artisans, cooperatives and craft-based enterprises from Morocco and across Africa are participating in the event, showcasing a wide range of products such as textiles, pottery, ceramics, leather goods, woodwork, jewellery, traditional footwear and decorative items.
Held annually, Morocco’s National Handicrafts Week is a travelling festival that celebrates craftsmanship by taking the country’s artisanal heritage to different cities. The 9th edition stands as a vibrant celebration of African creativity, with Zambia proudly contributing its unique cultural identity to the continental showcase.
