Hassan Allam Wins USD 250m Afreximbank Trade Centre Project

Hassan Allam Construction, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding, has been awarded a landmark USD 250 million contract to construct the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) African Trade Centre, which will also serve as the Bank’s new headquarters, in Egypt’s New Capital.

The project was marked by a stone-laying ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including H.E. Dr Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt; Dr George Elombi, President and Chairman of Afreximbank; H.E. Mr Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt; Eng Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding; and Eng Mohamed El Dahshoury, CEO of Hassan Allam Construction.

The comprehensive development will feature a wide range of modern trade-supporting facilities. These include the main Afreximbank headquarters building, a 110-room apartment hotel, six fully serviced residential villas, a trade information centre, a world-class library and knowledge hub, an innovation and SME incubation centre, a business centre, a corporate museum, a 750-seat conference centre, exhibition spaces, retail and dining outlets, and a 1,200-bay parking structure.

The contract covers the full scope of civil works, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, hard and soft landscaping, as well as the supply and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). Designed as a green, sustainable development, the project reflects both Afreximbank’s and Hassan Allam Holding’s commitment to environmentally responsible and efficient infrastructure.

Eng Hassan Allam said: “Our collaboration with Afreximbank reflects a shared belief in the power of infrastructure to unlock Africa’s economic potential. Hassan Allam Holding has spent over nine decades delivering projects that strengthen communities, enable growth, and support long-term development. We are proud to bring this expertise to a project of such continental significance, which will act as a catalyst for trade and opportunity across Africa.”

Dr George Elombi added: “The African Trade Centres address a long-standing challenge: the lack of accessible information about African markets, which has hindered trade for decades. The AATC is designed not only to accommodate the Bank’s expansion but also to provide knowledge and support to African businesses. We anticipate completion within 36 months, creating around 8,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and approximately 1,000 jobs during operations.”

The collaboration exemplifies a shared vision for sustainable infrastructure and Africa’s economic transformation. By leveraging structured guarantees, joint investment, and high-impact projects, both Hassan Allam Holding and Afreximbank continue to drive initiatives that strengthen trade and investment across the continent.
