Emirates Launches New Collectible Amenity Kits to Highlight Endangered Species
Emirates has unveiled a new collection of amenity kits for Premium Economy and Economy Class passengers on long-haul flights, designed to spotlight endangered species and raise awareness of wildlife conservation.
The kits, available from December, are made from sustainable, bio-based materials including cactus and feature hand-drawn artwork representing animals from the sea, sky, forest, and desert.
For the first time, Premium Economy passengers will receive travel wellness products from the plant-powered brand Aveda, including lip balm, hand relief moisturising cream, and hydrating face lotion.
The kits also contain essential travel items such as soft socks, eyeshades, earplugs, and a Colgate dental kit. Economy Class kits feature a similar selection of comfort items.
Each kit includes a story card with detailed information about the endangered species depicted, ranging from Bengal tigers, pangolins, green sea turtles, and Western gorillas to African grey parrots, small-clawed otters, and Fennec foxes.
The initiative is part of Emirates’ ongoing partnership with United for Wildlife, founded by HRH Prince William and The Royal Foundation, which combats illegal wildlife trafficking worldwide.
Passengers can also watch the series Guardians on Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, which highlights the efforts of wildlife rangers and conservationists.
Emirates’ reusable kits are produced with sustainability in mind. Socks and eyeshades are made from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester, while story cards and earplug packaging are sourced from responsibly managed forests.
The airline has a zero-tolerance policy on illegal wildlife trade and, through its cargo arm Emirates SkyCargo, prohibits the transport of hunting trophies from elephants, rhinoceros, lions, and tigers.
In June 2023, Emirates achieved IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) Stage One and the IEnvA Illegal Wildlife Trade module certifications, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
