Yango Zambia, Ministry of Technology Explore AI Solutions for Public Service Delivery

Yango Zambia, part of the global tech company Yango Group, has partnered with the Ministry of Technology and Science to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital systems can strengthen public service delivery in Zambia.

The discussions took place during a high-level Tech Day hosted at the InterContinental Hotel in Lusaka on Monday, 8 December 2025, bringing together senior government officials and technology leaders for a focused dialogue on practical digital solutions for government institutions.

The engagement centred on deployable technologies across key sectors, including digital revenue management, transport systems, customs processes, healthcare, education, agricultural intelligence and data-driven national planning. Emphasis was placed on real-world use cases aimed at improving visibility, reducing revenue leakages and supporting evidence-based decision-making within the public sector.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati, highlighted the importance of technology in improving oversight and economic efficiency. He said digital systems are essential to closing gaps in regulation, strengthening accountability and unlocking revenues needed to support national growth, investment and improved service delivery.

Yango Zambia highlighted the country’s potential to leapfrog traditional development barriers through responsible, AI-enabled infrastructure, reaffirming its readiness to work closely with government institutions to deliver practical and sustainable solutions.

Yango Group Chief Business Officer, Adeniyi Adebayo, said the company’s approach prioritises solving concrete operational challenges rather than promoting abstract technology concepts.

He noted that AI is already transforming transport, revenue management, logistics and service delivery globally, and stressed the importance of applying such technologies in ways that reflect local realities and protect national technological sovereignty.

He added that Yango’s systems are designed to be modular, adaptable and integrated across sectors, allowing institutions to test solutions quickly and scale those that deliver measurable results.

Throughout the session, government officials engaged directly with Yango executives to explore pilot projects, data-driven planning tools and long-term digital integration across strategic sectors. The Tech Day forms part of Yango’s broader commitment to supporting Zambia with AI-enabled systems that enhance transparency, strengthen public institutions and contribute to inclusive national development.

The event was attended by several senior officials, including the Minister of Technology and Science, the Director General of the Cyber Security Agency, and representatives from the Industrial Development Corporation, ZICTA, the Ministries of Home Affairs, Education and Commerce, as well as the Presidential Delivery Unit.
