Ministry of Education Digitalises 75 Classrooms Nationwide
The Ministry of Education has successfully digitalised 75 classrooms across Zambia as part of a national drive to modernise the country’s education system.
The announcement was made by Education Minister Hon. Douglas Syakalima during a courtesy call by Edulution Group CEO, Mr Richard Akwei, and Country Head Ms Muule Moonga.
Hon. Syakalima said the new Smart Classrooms, equipped with interactive boards, computers, and internet connectivity, are designed to enhance teaching, improve learner engagement, and align Zambia’s education sector with global technological trends.
He stressed that the initiative aims to ensure equal digital access for learners in both rural and urban areas.
“This programme is not only about technology but also about equity. By standardising digital learning facilities, we want to ensure no child is left behind, regardless of location,” he said.
Mr Akwei announced Edulution’s target to reach over 5,000 learners by 2026, expanding its AI-driven literacy and numeracy programme for pupils in Grades 4–7.
He noted that this will require scaling operations, increasing coaching capacity, and strengthening partnerships with the Ministry.
Ms Moonga confirmed that Edulution is working to renew its Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry, highlighting the positive impact already achieved. The current MoU remains valid until 2026.
Edulution Zambia is a non-profit organisation delivering technology-driven learning to underserved communities, including government schools, community centres, and refugee settlements.
