ZCCM-IH Strengthens Media Capacity in Mining, Energy and Financial Reporting

ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc has enhanced the skills of Zambia’s business journalists through a comprehensive Media Training Workshop held on Friday, 5 December 2025, in Lusaka.

The workshop, aimed at improving reporting across mining, energy, financial and economic sectors, attracted reporters from the country’s leading news organisations.

Company Secretary, Mr Charles Mjumphi, opened the event on behalf of Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kakenenwa Muyangwa. He reaffirmed ZCCM-IH’s commitment to supporting ethical, accurate and data-driven journalism as a foundation for informed public discourse and investor confidence.

The full-day training, hosted at Legacy Resort, drew participants from ZNBC, ZANIS, Zambia Daily Mail, Times of Zambia, News Diggers, Daily Nation, Phoenix FM, Hot FM, Prime TV, Diamond TV, Money FM, Christian Voice, 5FM Radio, Zambia Monitor, QFM/QTV, One Love Radio, The Mast, Lusaka Times, Kalemba, Power FM, Millennium FM and Bloomberg.

ZCCM-IH Acting Chief Investments Officer, Mr Situmbeko Mubano, provided an overview of the Company’s evolution from ZCCM Ltd to its current portfolio-driven structure. He outlined the importance of diversification in mining, energy and industrial sectors. 

Acting Chief Financial Officer, Mr Chitalu Kabwe, complemented this with insights on annual reporting processes and how ZCCM-IH enhances transparency through rigorous disclosure.

A highlight of the workshop was a session led by Bloomberg financial journalist Mr Matthew Hill, who offered practical tools for crafting strong economic and mining stories. He demonstrated the value and risks of artificial intelligence in modern reporting, emphasising the need for verification and ethical use of technology.

The Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE), represented by Manager – Legal and Compliance, Ms Sherry Maponga, briefed journalists on how the Exchange functions and stressed the essential role of media in promoting market integrity. 

Stockbrokers Zambia Limited’s Assistant Manager, Mr Mchema Chinzewe, explained market operations, pricing dynamics and the significance of ZCCM-IH as a key market indicator.

The training equipped journalists with advanced skills to deliver clearer, more contextual reporting on Zambia’s economic landscape.

Closing the event, ZCCM-IH Corporate Affairs Manager, Ms Loisa Mbatha, expressed gratitude to participants and partners for their engagement. She reaffirmed the Company’s commitment to supporting professional, responsible journalism that contributes to national development.
