ep Group and GridBeyond Revolutionise UK Energy Storage with 50MW AI-Optimised Battery
UK energy transition company ep Group has signed a partnership agreement with global smart energy firm GridBeyond to deliver an AI-powered optimisation programme for its energy storage operations.
The collaboration will focus on ep Group’s 50MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in North Baddesley, supporting enrolment in the UK capacity market and unlocking new revenue opportunities.
GridBeyond’s Energy Management System and AI-driven optimisation platform will enable real-time design, forecasting, trading, and strategic charging and discharging of the battery, improving performance and extending its operational life.
Leo Bedford, Partner at ep Group, said: “Our partnership with GridBeyond advances our mission to accelerate the shift to distributed, decarbonised, and digitised energy systems. By combining GridBeyond’s optimisation capabilities with Pixii’s power conversion technology and ep Group’s delivery expertise, we are helping clients turn energy infrastructure into a strategic, value-generating asset.”
Scott Berrie, Director of Origination at GridBeyond, added: “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to advancing energy storage in the UK. Our AI-driven optimisation and forecasting capabilities maximise profits across markets, while supporting the integration of renewable energy and adding flexibility and reliability to the grid.”
The partnership builds on ep Group’s earlier joint venture with Norwegian power systems and battery storage specialist Pixii AS, launched to meet rising demand for optimised distributed energy systems in the UK.
