Emirates Buys 65 More Boeing 777Xs Jets Worth US$38 Billion

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has confirmed an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, powered by GE9X engines, worth US$38 billion at list prices during the opening day of Dubai Airshow 2025.

This latest agreement brings Emirates’ total orderbook with Boeing to 315 widebody aircraft, including 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. The airline’s orderbook with GE Aerospace for GE9X engines now stands at 540 units, including 130 additional engines signed today.

The deal also supports Boeing’s feasibility study for the development of the 777-10, a larger variant of the 777X family, with Emirates securing options to convert its latest 777-9 order into either the 777-10 or 777-8.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said: “Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator, and this new order worth US$38 billion underscores our long-term commitment to Boeing, GE, and US aerospace. Each aircraft has been carefully factored into Emirates’ expansion plan, aligned with Dubai’s growth strategy. We look forward to receiving our first 777-9s from Q2 2027, featuring industry-leading onboard products.”

On the 777-10 study, HH Sheikh Ahmed added: “We support Boeing’s feasibility study for larger, more efficient aircraft and have options to convert our latest 777-9 order to the 777-10 or 777-8 to meet future demand.”

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “We are honoured that Emirates has once again selected the Boeing 777X to power its world-class fleet. Boeing has proudly supported Emirates for over 40 years, and we look forward to many more decades of partnership.”

Russell Stokes, President and CEO, Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, added: “This additional GE9X order reflects Emirates’ confidence in our technology. We are ready to support Emirates with the efficiency and durability of our engines and services.”

Emirates has a long history with the Boeing 777 family and operates the largest 777 fleet in the world, connecting Dubai to over 140 cities across six continents. Following today’s order, Emirates expects Boeing deliveries up to 2038, sustaining thousands of high-value manufacturing jobs in the United States.
