Yango Zambia Empowers Drivers with New “My Area” Feature
Yango Zambia has reinforced its commitment to safety, transparency and driver empowerment with the launch of a new “My Area” feature and a comprehensive Driver Platform and Safety Education event held in Lusaka.
The event, hosted by Yango Zambia which is part of the global technology company Yango Group, brought together partner drivers for a full day focused on learning, innovation and enhanced engagement.
The new “My Area” feature allows drivers to select preferred operating zones and preview passenger destinations before accepting a trip. The tool is designed to give drivers greater autonomy and improve efficiency while supporting safe and informed decision making in Zambia’s expanding ride hailing sector.
Speaking at the event, Kabanda Chewe, Country Head for Yango Zambia, emphasised the company’s commitment to empowering drivers through transparent and user friendly digital tools.
“Through the ‘My Area’ feature, we are giving drivers more control and transparency over their work. This feature is part of our broader mission to ensure every driver feels empowered, informed and supported as they contribute to a safe and reliable ride hailing experience. Drivers and passengers are the backbone of our platform and their wellbeing and safety are key priorities for us,” he said.
Drivers in attendance welcomed the innovation and praised its practicality and impact on daily operations.
Yango partner driver Noah Banda expressed his appreciation: “I am really thankful to Yango for launching the ‘My Area’ feature because it gives me, as a driver, much more control over where I can go. It allows me to focus on areas I know well and manage my time better, especially during peak hours. This feature helps us save on fuel, stay within familiar routes and deliver better service to passengers. It is a real game changer for drivers like me.”
In addition to unveiling the new feature, the event included educational sessions on key components of the platform such as trip pricing, priority points and in-app safety tools. These sessions ensured that drivers gained full understanding of how earnings, incentives and safety protocols operate within the Yango ecosystem.
With initiatives such as the “My Area” feature and continuous safety training, Yango continues to build a trusted and technology driven mobility platform that supports driver independence, safety and financial growth.
