Lobito Corridor Business Forum Set to Boost Zambia-EU Trade and Investment

The Government of Zambia, in partnership with the European Union (EU) Delegation to Zambia and COMESA, has announced the upcoming EU–Zambia Lobito Corridor Business Forum, scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 November 2025 at Ciela Resort, Lusaka.

The Forum will serve as a platform to promote trade, investment, and partnership opportunities between Zambian and European businesses.

Over 300 European and Zambian companies, alongside high-level representatives from the Zambian and EU governments and international financing institutions, have been invited to participate. The Forum will feature targeted business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) sessions, allowing participants to showcase opportunities along the Lobito economic corridor in sectors such as agriculture, energy, and mining.

Kusobile Kamwambi, Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), highlighted the strategic significance of the Forum, stating that it will promote sustainable, inclusive, and climate-smart investment models aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.

“The Forum will showcase Zambia’s growing renewable energy, mining, and agribusiness sectors while creating opportunities for private sector engagement and long-term economic impact,” she said.

The Forum aligns with the EU’s strategic priorities in Zambia, including economic diversification, trade enhancement, and infrastructure development. EU Ambassador to Zambia, Karolina Stasiak, added: “This Forum will identify concrete investment and partnership opportunities along the corridor by bringing together grants, loans, and private investment. We aim to create lasting impact on the ground with new jobs and market engagements.”

To extend access to information and opportunities beyond the Forum, the Government of Zambia has launched a dedicated website: www.lobitocorridorzambia.com, designed to help the private sector, youth, and women harness the potential offered by the Lobito Corridor

The Lobito Corridor is a transport and trade route linking Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia to regional and global markets. Supported by the EU under the Global Gateway initiative, it will become Africa’s first open-access transcontinental rail line, providing a faster, more efficient route for the export of Zambia’s minerals, agricultural products, and manufactured goods.

The corridor is a joint initiative of the governments of Angola, Zambia, and the DRC, with support from the EU, the U.S., the African Development Bank, and the Africa Finance Corporation.
