Global Think Tank Seminar Equips Zambia with New Development Strategies

A delegation from the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry has returned to Zambia after successfully participating in the Global Development Governance Think Tank Talent Exchange Seminar, where they gained valuable insights to support the country’s development agenda.

The four-member team, led by the Ministry’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms. Everness Nankala, joined participants from selected African nations and international experts to exchange ideas and learn from China’s best practices in sustainable development and global governance.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ms. Nankala expressed appreciation to the organisers for creating a platform that encouraged open dialogue, experience sharing, and collaborative learning.

“This platform has been instrumental in fostering meaningful discussions and learning from each other’s successes and challenges,” she said.

She highlighted several key lessons from the seminar, including the importance of innovative governance systems to address complex development challenges, the role of technology and digitalisation in economic transformation, and the need for sustainable and inclusive growth that balances environmental, social and economic priorities.

China’s achievements in poverty reduction, infrastructure expansion, and technological advancement were underscored as particularly insightful. Ms. Nankala noted that long-term planning, strategic investment and institutional reforms were presented as core pillars of successful development.

“These lessons will be instrumental in shaping our strategies back home. We are confident the knowledge gained will not only benefit Zambia but also contribute to the global development agenda,” she said.

The seminar also created opportunities for Zambia to share its own perspectives, engage with global experts, and strengthen international partnerships. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to applying global knowledge to local development needs and looks forward to continued cooperation with international partners.
