Zambia Football Coach Resigns After Mutual Agreement with FAZ

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that it has parted ways with Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant, following a mutual agreement between both parties.

FAZ General Secretary, Machacha Shepande, confirmed the development, stating that the decision was made in the best interest of charting a new strategic direction for the Zambia Men’s National Football Team.

“The Football Association of Zambia has agreed to mutually separate with Zambia Senior Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant. The two parties agreed to part ways amicably, and FAZ wishes Mr Grant the best of luck in his future endeavours,” said Shepande.

He added that further details surrounding the separation will be communicated in due course, but emphasised the association’s gratitude for Grant’s service.
“For now, we can only thank Mr Grant for his contribution to the Zambian game,” he said.

Grant was appointed on 22 December 2022 on a two-year contract and led Zambia to two consecutive Africa Cup of Nations qualifications, for the 2024 tournament and the upcoming Morocco 2025 edition.

Zambia is scheduled to compete in Group A of the Morocco 2025 AFCON, alongside hosts Morocco, Mali and Comoros.
