Zambia and UAE to Sign Tourism Cooperation MoU in Riyadh

Zambia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are set to formalise a partnership aimed at boosting tourism development and investment across both countries.

The Honourable Rodney Malindi Sikumba, MP, Minister of Tourism of Zambia, held a bilateral meeting with his UAE counterpart, H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, on the sidelines of the UAE–Africa Tourism and Investment Summit at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.

The discussions centred on deepening cooperation in tourism, promoting sustainable growth, knowledge exchange, and investment opportunities. Both Ministers emphasised the importance of partnerships that foster innovation, community development, and mutually beneficial outcomes.

To formalise this collaboration, Zambia and the UAE will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tourism Cooperation later this year during the United Nations General Assembly meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Minister Sikumba praised the UAE’s commitment to supporting tourism initiatives in Africa and highlighted the opportunities for joint efforts in skills development, destination promotion, and innovative financing mechanisms for community-based tourism enterprises.

Both Ministers reaffirmed their dedication to advancing the global tourism agenda in line with UN Tourism principles, highlighting transparency, accountability, and results-driven cooperation.
