Future Tech Leaders: 40 Pupils Complete Stanbic Bank’s STEAM Training

Forty young innovators from New Northmead Primary School have graduated from the Stanbic STEAM Programme, a Stanbic Bank Zambia initiative designed to equip primary school pupils with 21st-century skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

The programme introduced learners to coding, robotics and design thinking, enabling them to build problem-solving and critical thinking skills essential for a digital and innovation-driven economy.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony held at the Stanbic Bank Yateme Leadership Centre in Lusaka, Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati, applauded the initiative, noting that such programmes are key to preparing young people for future opportunities.

“The New Dawn Government is delighted that Stanbic partnered with Northmead Primary School to empower young learners through STEAM. Developing skills in science and technology will not only help grow the economy but create the much-needed jobs for our young people by driving innovation,” he said.

Stanbic Bank Chief Executive, Mwindwa Siakalima, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to nurturing young minds through education and innovation-focused initiatives.

“Our goal is to empower the next generation with the knowledge and tools they need to keep growing and to build a smarter, more sustainable future for our nation,” he said.

In a vote of thanks delivered on behalf of the Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary – Administration, Ms Noriana Muneku, Assistant Director and Head of Communications, Kunda Mando, commended Stanbic Bank for its continued commitment to supporting education through forward-looking learning programmes.

She said the STEAM initiative demonstrates the transformative power of partnerships between the private sector and education stakeholders, empowering learners while aligning with Zambia’s national vision for digital literacy and innovation.

The STEAM project forms part of Stanbic Bank’s broader community development efforts focused on education, innovation and sustainable development.
