Hyatt to Launch First-Ever Branded Hotel in Zambia with Hyatt Regency Lusaka The Pamodzi

Global hospitality leader Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans to debut its flagship Hyatt Regency brand in Zambia following a major refurbishment of the iconic Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.

The hotel, set to reopen in 2026 as Hyatt Regency Lusaka The Pamodzi, will become the first Hyatt-branded property in the country, a significant milestone in Zambia’s growing hospitality landscape.

The transformation follows a management agreement between Hyatt and ASB Hotel Properties, Albwardy Investments, and Pamodzi Hotels PLC. The renovation, which will take place while the property remains operational, is designed to elevate the hotel into a world-class destination for both business and leisure travellers.

“We are delighted to work with ASB Hotel Properties, Albwardy Investments and Pamodzi Hotels PLC to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to Zambia,” said Stephen Ansell, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Hyatt. “This milestone strengthens our presence in Africa and demonstrates our commitment to expanding into new destinations.”

Mr. Ali Albwardy, Chairman of Albwardy Investments, expressed confidence in Zambia’s tourism and business potential, stating: “The Pamodzi Hotel has long been a landmark in Lusaka. Through this renovation and rebranding, we aim to elevate it into a world-class destination that reflects our continued investment in Africa’s hospitality sector.”

Located in Lusaka’s urban heart, the rebranded Hyatt Regency Lusaka The Pamodzi will feature 170 guest rooms and suites, modern meeting facilities, and contemporary designs blending comfort with local culture. The hotel’s proximity to the city’s key business districts and cultural landmarks, such as the Lusaka National Museum and Lusaka National Park, makes it ideal for corporate travellers and tourists alike.

Upon reopening, World of Hyatt members will be able to earn and redeem points, gaining access to exclusive benefits across the global Hyatt network.

The partnership marks a new chapter for Zambia’s tourism and investment outlook, reinforcing the country’s appeal as a prime destination for international hospitality brands.
