Emirates Illuminates the Skies with Diwali Celebrations Onboard and in Lounges

Emirates is marking Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with a week-long celebration featuring traditional sweets, festive menus, and vibrant entertainment on flights to and from India from 17 to 24 October. The airline is also extending the celebrations to its premium lounges in Dubai, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.

Passengers flying to and from major Indian cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Mumbai will enjoy a variety of authentic Diwali delicacies. In Premium Economy and Economy Class, travellers will be treated to motichoor laddu, a traditional dessert made from fried chickpea flour balls infused with cardamom, saffron and pistachios.

First and Business Class customers will indulge in Kaju Pista Roll, a rose-flavoured cashew and pistachio confection decorated with edible silver leaves.

In Emirates’ First and Business Class Lounges in Dubai, guests can savour festive favourites including onion kachoris, paneer potli samosas, and sweets such as balushahi, kesar rasgullas and gajar ka halwa. Exclusive Diwali-themed cocktails and mocktails such as the Spicy Saffron Martini and Chai Chat Latte will add to the festive atmosphere.

Travellers in Emirates’ Cape Town and Johannesburg lounges, home to vibrant Indian communities, can enjoy gulab jamun, rice pudding and mango lassi.

To complement the culinary offerings, Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, will feature 167 Indian films including new releases like Laapataa Ladies and Jigra, along with Bollywood classics. Passengers can also enjoy regional films in nine Indian languages, 14 popular TV shows and 40 Indian music albums and playlists.

Through these celebrations, Emirates continues to embrace cultural diversity and share the spirit of Diwali with travellers across its global network, bringing the festival of lights to the skies.
