SADC to Host 11th Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue in Lesotho
The Southern African Development Community (SADC), in partnership with the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho and supported by the German Government through GIZ, will convene the 11th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue in Maseru from 29 to 30 September 2025.
The biennial platform brings together policymakers, water practitioners, and stakeholders from the energy, agriculture, environment, tourism, and finance sectors to share perspectives on how water can drive regional integration, industrialisation, and poverty reduction.
This year’s Dialogue, organised under the SADC-GIZ Transboundary Water Management project with the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), will run under the theme: “Water Security, Innovation, and Nexus Action: Watering and Enabling Regional Economic Development Corridors for Transformation in SADC.”
Honourable Mohlomi Moleko, Minister of Natural Resources of Lesotho, will deliver the keynote address at the event.
Central to discussions will be the strategic role of water in advancing integrated, climate-resilient regional economic corridors through Water-Energy-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approaches. Participants will also explore innovative water governance models, financing mechanisms, and technical solutions to strengthen corridor-linked development and service delivery.
By aligning the water sector with SADC’s regional economic corridor agenda, the Dialogue aims to co-develop strategies that enhance resilience, food security, and sustainable growth.
Ultimately, the gathering seeks to ensure that economic corridors become not only arteries of trade and industrialisation but also lifelines of resilience and climate-smart development across Southern Africa.
