Zambia–Kenya Partnership in Medical Tourism Gathers Momentum
Zambia and Kenya are forging closer ties in medical tourism, with a focus on shared expertise, greater access to compassionate care, and mutual growth opportunities.
The collaboration was highlighted during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the High Commission of the Republic of Zambia to The Nairobi Hospital.
Led by Ms Kutemba Fwoloshi, Second Secretary for Tourism, the delegation represented His Excellency Alfred Musemuna, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya. They were received by the hospital’s leadership and toured its state-of-the-art facilities, praising its commitment to specialised care, patient-centred innovation, and international outreach.
Speaking on behalf of the High Commissioner, Ms Fwoloshi reaffirmed Zambia’s view of medical tourism as a critical area for regional cooperation.
“This engagement marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership – one that will uplift lives across borders and set a new standard for regional health diplomacy,” she said.
The visit highlighted possible areas of collaboration, including patient referrals and professional knowledge exchange between the two countries.
Mr Nicodemus Odongo, Director for Strategy and Innovation at The Nairobi Hospital, expressed optimism about the partnership.
“The hospital boasts a team of highly specialised medical personnel with expertise across various fields, and we are excited about the opportunities to collaborate with Zambia,” he remarked.
Both the High Commission and The Nairobi Hospital reaffirmed their shared vision to strengthen healthcare systems and deepen regional cooperation in medical tourism for the benefit of patients across borders.
