Indus Towers to Expand Operations into Nigeria, Uganda, and Zambia

Indus Towers Limited, India’s leading provider of passive telecom infrastructure, has announced plans to expand into Africa, with operations set to commence in Nigeria, Uganda, and Zambia.

The company’s Board of Directors, at a meeting earlier today, approved the foray into the three African markets, citing their strong growth potential and capacity to drive revenue diversification, operational scalability, and long-term value creation.

Indus Towers intends to leverage its robust financial position and long-standing partnership with Bharti Airtel, which already has a significant footprint across Africa, to establish a competitive presence. As part of its wider international strategy, the company will also explore opportunities in other African countries where Airtel operates.

This move aligns with the Government of India’s vision of encouraging Indian enterprises to expand globally and evolve into multinational entities.

Commenting on the decision, Prachur Sah, Managing Director and CEO of Indus Towers, said: “The Board’s approval to enter international markets in Africa unlocks our vision for long-term sustainable growth and value creation for our shareholders. By leveraging our expertise in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions, we are well-positioned to differentiate ourselves in Africa’s fast-growing telecom market and emerge as the preferred tower company.”

Founded in 2007, Indus Towers Limited owns and manages over 251,000 telecom towers across India’s 22 telecom circles, serving all major wireless operators. The company has been a pioneer in adopting green energy initiatives within the telecom infrastructure sector.

The African expansion remains subject to regulatory approvals and compliance with applicable laws. Indus Towers confirmed that further disclosures will be made as material developments occur.
