ZAMMSA Bolsters Ethical Standards with Integrity Committee Induction
The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has reinforced its commitment to transparency and accountability with the induction of its newly formed Integrity Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony this morning, Acting Director General, Ms Jane Banda, described integrity as “the backbone of public service” and urged staff to uphold the highest ethical standards despite economic pressures and operational complexities.
She emphasised that strengthening internal controls and oversight would ensure ZAMMSA remains a benchmark for ethical excellence in Zambia’s public sector.
The training, facilitated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), highlighted Zambia’s progress in combating corruption, with the country’s Corruption Perception Index score rising from 36 in 2022 to 39 in 2024.
ACC Corruption Prevention Officer, Mr Lubinda Chirwa, called on the committee to champion whistleblower protection, promote e-governance, and ensure merit-based recruitment, while Committee Chairperson, Mr Bradley Chingobe, pledged to restore confidence in the agency through awareness and staff sensitisation.
Mr Chingobe noted that strong ethical practices will help safeguard public resources and guarantee reliable access to essential medicines and medical supplies for the Zambian people.
