Liquid Rwanda Strengthens Genocide Memorials with US$1M Decade-Long Pledge

Liquid Intelligent Technologies Rwanda has reaffirmed its dedication to preserving the memory of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi with a US$100,000 donation to the Imbuto Foundation.

The annual contribution, now in its fourth year, forms part of a decade-long pledge worth US$1 million. The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Imbuto Foundation and Rwanda’s Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement, supports the safeguarding of national genocide memorials through the use of technology.

Liquid’s funding helps ensure that evidence, artefacts, and documentation are preserved for future generations, enabling Rwandans and international visitors alike to engage with authentic records of the country’s history.

“Protecting the memory of the genocide against the Tutsi is essential to our nation’s collective healing and resilience,” said Mr Sam Nkusi, Executive Chairman of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Rwanda. “At Liquid, we are committed to supporting the Government of Rwanda in strengthening memorial infrastructure and preserving historical records using innovation. Beyond building Africa’s digital future, we take pride in safeguarding heritage and strengthening identity.”

Founded by Rwanda’s First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs Jeannette Kagame, the Imbuto Foundation works to promote education, health, and unity. Liquid’s sustained support reinforces its broader mission of driving inclusive digital transformation across Rwanda.

The company has also rolled out free public internet access at various sites nationwide, providing students, entrepreneurs, and citizens with reliable connectivity to both historical lessons and digital opportunities.
