Permanent Secretary Calls on Zambians to Invest in Tourism Sector
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism has urged Zambians to take advantage of the country’s vast tourism opportunities by investing in the sector to drive growth and sustainability.
Speaking on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation’s Chintobentobe programme, the Permanent Secretary stressed that tourism remains a critical pillar of Zambia’s economic diversification agenda, with significant potential for job creation, income generation, and community development.
He encouraged citizens to seize opportunities in areas such as hospitality, tour operations, eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and related value chains. According to him, increased domestic investment will not only boost national revenue but also foster ownership and pride in Zambia’s natural and cultural heritage.
“Tourism is one of Zambia’s most promising sectors. For it to thrive, we need more Zambians to participate as investors and partners. The government has continued to create a favourable policy environment and incentives to ensure the sector grows inclusively and sustainably,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with both local and international stakeholders to enhance tourism infrastructure, market Zambia’s unique attractions, and foster innovation that will make the industry more competitive on the global stage.
The Ministry has consistently underscored the importance of tourism in driving Zambia’s economic transformation, positioning it as a key growth sector alongside agriculture and mining.
