ERB Revises Fuel Pump Prices for September 2025
The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced revised fuel pump prices for September 2025, citing the depreciation of the Kwacha and increased premiums under the Tanzanian Bulk Procurement System (BPS) as key drivers.
According to the ERB, the Kwacha weakened by 2.5 percent against the United States Dollar, falling from K23.23/US$ to K23.81/US$ since the last review in July. Over the same period, premiums for petrol rose by 17.27 percent, while kerosene and Jet A-1 also recorded increases. Diesel premiums, however, remained stable under the TAZAMA Open Access framework.
Meanwhile, international oil prices showed marginal declines, with petrol dropping by 0.35 percent to US$74.32 per barrel, diesel by 2.81 percent to US$84.26 per barrel, and kerosene/Jet A-1 by 1.48 percent to US$82.04 per barrel.
Balancing these mixed factors, the ERB has set the following national uniform pump prices for September:
- Petrol: K29.18 per litre (up from K28.00)
- Diesel: K25.02 per litre (up from K23.13)
- Kerosene: K23.64 per litre (up from K21.98)
- Jet A-1: K25.83 per litre (up from K23.94)
The new prices, effective from 1 September 2025, also affect Posted Airfield Prices (PAP) at international airports. At Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, the price is now K25.83 per litre; Ndola’s Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport is set at K29.07; Livingstone at K26.64; and Mfuwe at K25.83.
The Board stated that wholesale and pump price build-ups for September are available on the ERB website.
