Bank of Zambia Reaffirms Strength of New Currency’s Security Features
The Bank of Zambia (BoZ) has assured the public that the country’s new banknotes are equipped with advanced, state-of-the-art security features, dismissing claims that they are inadequate.
In a statement issued by Ms Besnat Myanza Assistant Director -Communications at the Bank of Zambia, the central bank emphasised that the refreshed currency design incorporates cutting-edge innovations developed over the past decade to combat increasingly sophisticated counterfeiting methods.
“The new banknotes have enhanced security features aimed at deterring counterfeiting and maintaining public confidence in the national currency,” the Bank said.
To further strengthen awareness, BoZ has introduced a mobile application called Zambian Banknotes, designed to help the public familiarise themselves with the features of the new currency family.
The Bank urged citizens to remain vigilant when handling cash and to disregard misinformation that could undermine trust in the Kwacha.
“The Bank remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of currency security and protecting the integrity of the financial system,” the statement added.
Members of the public have been encouraged to rely on official BoZ communication channels for accurate information.
