Eswatini Delegation Completes Productive Education Benchmarking Visit to Zambia

A high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Eswatini has concluded an education benchmarking mission to Zambia, describing the experience as “insightful and enriching.”

Led by Ms Nanikie Mnisi, Principal Secretary in Eswatini’s Ministry of Education and Training, the team spent several days engaging with key institutions across Zambia’s education sector.

Speaking during an exit meeting with Dr Kelvin Mambwe, Permanent Secretary for Education Services, Ms Mnisi commended Zambia’s collaborative approach to education delivery.

“The inclusivity of all parties in the education sector is admirable, and we are surely taking that back home,” she said.

Ms Mnisi praised Zambia’s innovations, particularly those driven by the Ministry through the National Science Centre, and expressed interest in the country’s implementation of the New Competence-Based Curriculum,  an initiative Eswatini is also rolling out.

“We came to the right place. Our team has learnt a lot, especially from the way different bodies work together to deliver quality education,” she added.

Dr Mambwe thanked the Eswatini delegation for choosing Zambia for their benchmarking exercise, attributing the country’s education successes to the commitment of President Hakainde Hichilema.

“We are doing very well in the education sector because our President has motivated us through his passion for education,” he said.

Dr Ebby Mubanga, Registrar of the Teaching Council of Zambia, described the mission as highly productive and reaffirmed Zambia’s willingness to share best practices in education quality improvement.

During the visit, the Eswatini delegation met with the Teaching Council of Zambia, the Examinations Council of Zambia, and the Zambia Qualifications Authority. The exchange highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in strengthening education systems and fostering innovation across borders.
