ERB Maintains Fuel Prices for August 2025 Despite Global Market Shifts
The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced that fuel prices across Zambia will remain unchanged for the month of August 2025, despite notable fluctuations in international oil prices and currency exchange rates.
In its latest review, the ERB cited a 1.49% decline in the international price of petrol, from US$75.71 to US$74.58 per barrel, while the price of diesel rose by 6.55% to US$86.70 per barrel. Kerosene and Jet A-1 also recorded increases of 4.57%, rising from US$79.63 to US$83.27 per barrel.
On the domestic front, the Zambian Kwacha appreciated against the US Dollar by 4.04%, strengthening from K24.27 to K23.29 per US Dollar during July 2025. The ERB noted that this currency gain helped offset global price increases for diesel, kerosene, and Jet A-1.

- Petrol: K28.00/litre
- Diesel: K23.13/litre

“All pump prices remain unchanged from the previous review,” said ERB Board Chairperson James Banda in a statement issued Thursday. “These prices will stay in effect throughout August 2025 unless revised.”
