Zambia, Morocco Pledge Deeper Strategic Partnership at Enthronement Celebration
Zambia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco during celebrations marking the 26th Anniversary of the Enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The commemorative event, held this evening in Lusaka, was hosted by the Chargé d’Affaires of Morocco, His Excellency Mr. Kalakhi Mohamed, and attended by high-level government officials, diplomats, and invited guests. Representing the Zambian Government was Honourable Rodney Sikumba, MP, Minister of Tourism.
Delivering remarks on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, Honourable Sikumba extended heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the people of Morocco.
The Minister commended King Mohammed VI’s transformative leadership over the past 26 years, highlighting Morocco’s significant achievements in renewable energy, urban modernization, gender and youth empowerment, and continental cooperation.
“Our two countries share a strong historical bond and a common vision for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Africa,” said Honourable Sikumba. “Cooperation between Zambia and Morocco continues to expand across key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, energy, and diplomatic training.”
He also emphasized the strategic importance of the diplomatic missions in Lusaka and Rabat, noting that they symbolize a mutual dedication to deepening political and economic ties.
“As we face global challenges like climate change, inequality, and food insecurity, Zambia stands ready to work with Morocco and other partners through Pan-African solidarity and multilateral engagement,” Sikumba added.
Zambia reaffirmed its support for initiatives that promote inclusive growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable development across the continent.
