Emirates Flight Catering Breaks Ground on AED 160 Million Linencraft Facility to Meet Surging UAE Demand

Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) has commenced construction on a state-of-the-art AED 160 million (USD 44 million) laundry facility under its Linencraft brand at Dubai Investment Park. The expansion marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s industrial services sector as demand from hospitality, aviation, and healthcare industries continues to soar.

Set to increase operational capacity by over 50%, the new facility will support 40 additional hospitality clients and create 400 direct jobs. Equipped with next-generation automated laundry systems, the plant will enhance operational efficiency, ensure consistent output, and reduce environmental impact through energy-efficient technologies and built-in redundancies.

“This bold investment reflects both the scale of opportunity we see in the market and our determination to lead the industry forward,” said Shahreyar Nawabi, CEO of Emirates Flight Catering. “With this advanced facility, we’re not just increasing capacity, we’re setting new standards through smart technology and sustainability.”

The modular facility will add 150 tons to Linencraft’s current daily processing capacity of 280 tons across four existing locations. It will feature two bulk laundry units with a combined capacity of 142 tons per day and a garment plant capable of processing over 28,000 items daily.

The expansion aligns with the UAE’s projected boom in tourism and infrastructure, with over 10,000 new hotel rooms expected by 2027 and major events and airport upgrades underway.

Waddah Basmaji, Managing Director of Asia Prime General Contracting, the construction partner for the project, commented: “This groundbreaking marks our shared commitment to quality and innovation. We are honoured to help deliver a project that supports Emirates Flight Catering’s continued growth and excellence.”

As the UAE’s largest laundry service provider, Linencraft currently serves more than 100 clients and employs over 1,300 people. The new facility will further cement its position as a leader in industrial laundry solutions across the region.
