Ministry of Tourism Commends Youth Empowerment Through Literature and Dialogue
The Ministry of Tourism has praised efforts to empower young people through literature and dialogue, following its participation in the Youth Na Vision Conference and the official launch of The Struggle to Self-Discovery, a book authored by Lucky Chomba.
Representing the Minister of Tourism, Honourable Rodney Sikumba, was Director of Tourism Dr. Andrew Chilufya, who delivered a message of support and encouragement to the youth in attendance.
In his remarks, Dr. Chilufya highlighted the critical role of platforms like the Youth Na Vision Conference in equipping young people with knowledge, fostering dialogue, and inspiring transformative action.
He emphasized that the government sees youth not only as beneficiaries of development but as active agents in shaping Zambia’s future.
Minister Sikumba, in his message delivered through Dr. Chilufya, commended Mr. Chomba for achieving the milestone of publishing his book. He noted that The Struggle to Self-Discovery captures the strength, courage, and transformative potential of Zambia’s youth, resonating with the lived experiences of many young people across the country.
“Within these challenges lies the power of resilience, learning, and meaningful growth,” he said. “This book stands not only as a personal narrative but also as a national story—one of hope, perseverance, and determination.”
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to youth empowerment, Hon. Sikumba pointed to key national frameworks, including the National Youth Policy, the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP), Vision 2030, and the Tourism Master Plan (2022–2038), as guiding tools for inclusive growth.
He stressed that the government will continue to support platforms that amplify youth voices and leadership.
Author Lucky Chomba expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism for its recognition and support. He called for increased collaboration between his team and the Ministry, noting that he looks forward to participating in future initiatives aligned with the Ministry’s mandate.
The Ministry concluded by applauding such youth-driven initiatives, stating its continued commitment to supporting programs that promote innovation, leadership, and empowerment among Zambia’s young people.
