Zambia Futsal Team Heads to Thailand for Continental Championship
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Vice President, Mutale Ng’andu, has officially sent off the Zambia Futsal National Team as they head to Thailand to compete in the Continental Futsal Championship 2025. The team, brimming with national pride, is set to face Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Belarus in Group B of the tournament.
Addressing the team at a briefing held at Prince Charles Hotel on the eve of their departure, Ng’andu, who represented FAZ President Keith Mweemba, encouraged the players to raise the Zambian flag high and make the country proud on the international stage.
“Our duty today is to give you the support you deserve as you head to Thailand to represent Zambia. Through your participation, our growing game of futsal will gain more international recognition,” said Ng’andu.
He reaffirmed FAZ’s commitment to promoting futsal and beach football, emphasizing that the executive committee is working to expand the country’s football development beyond the traditional 11-a-side game.
“We are serious about growing futsal and beach football. This is why we have refreshed the committees overseeing these sports to reflect our renewed commitment,” he added.
On the future of beach soccer, Ng’andu revealed that the association is exploring the possibility of launching a national beach football league by identifying suitable coastal areas across the country.
“Beach football is a recognized FIFA sport and presents great potential for Zambia to compete on global platforms.”
Group A of the Continental Futsal Championship includes hosts Thailand, New Zealand, and China. The tournament will showcase some of the top emerging futsal talent and give Zambia a platform to gain valuable experience and exposure.
The Zambia Futsal National Team has since departed for Thailand aboard South African Airways, ready to compete and make their mark on the international stage.
