Liseli Lodge Opens Nalikwanda Banquet Hall to Boost Tourism and Support Children with Disabilities
Liseli Lodge in Western Province has officially opened the Nalikwanda Banquet Hall, a significant addition aimed at enhancing the region’s hospitality and tourism sector while supporting children with disabilities across Zambia.
The new banquet hall, nestled within the tranquil grounds of Liseli Lodge, is expected to expand the lodge’s capacity to host events such as weddings, conferences, and community gatherings. Proceeds from the lodge, a Catholic-run establishment, directly support the care and upkeep of children with disabilities at Cheshire Homes throughout the country.
At the colourful opening ceremony, Irish Ambassador to Zambia, Her Excellency Bronagh Carr, praised the initiative for linking social impact with economic growth. “It is heartening to see a facility like this, not only contributing to the local economy and tourism but also directly improving the lives of children with disabilities across Zambia,” she said.
Western Province Permanent Secretary, Mr. Simomo Akapelwa, highlighted the project’s alignment with the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP), emphasizing its role in creating local employment and stimulating tourism growth in the province.
Right Reverend Bishop Chinyama Chinyemba of the Catholic Diocese of Mongu expressed gratitude to all contributors and described the hall as a symbol of the Church’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. He also offered a blessing for the success of the facility and the wellbeing of those it serves.
The Nalikwanda Banquet Hall is set to attract both local and international visitors, strengthening Mongu’s position as a growing hub for tourism and community development.
