Emirates Unveils Second Limited Edition Luggage Made from Upcycled Aircraft Interiors
Following the overwhelming success of its 2023 launch, Emirates has unveiled the second limited edition of its innovative luggage and bags collection, Aircrafted by Emirates 2025. This unique collection is handcrafted from upcycled materials salvaged from retrofitted Emirates aircraft interiors, offering aviation enthusiasts and collectors an exclusive chance to own pieces of airline history.
The new collection features three trolley bag styles, which were the top sellers from the initial release, along with two fashionable backpacks and two handbags, including one crafted from the fur of an Emirates Captain’s seat. Prices range from USD 80 to USD 350 per item. Only 167 pieces are available, and they are expected to sell out within days.
A significant portion of the proceeds will support children in need through the Emirates Airline Foundation, continuing the charitable spirit of the first collection which raised over USD 17,000.
Materials used in the Aircrafted 2025 collection come from iconic Emirates Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. Over 30,000 kilograms of components from 63 retrofitted planes have been repurposed to create these one-of-a-kind products. These include aluminum headrests, genuine leather from First and Business Class seats, and even sofas from the A380 onboard lounge.
Each material undergoes thorough cleaning, conditioning, and disinfection before being crafted into luggage with brand-new linings and functional zippers. Some bags feature authentic Emirates seatbelts as straps, adding to their distinctive appeal.
All Aircrafted bags are meticulously handmade by a dedicated team of 14 expert tailors, Emirates Engineering Maintenance Assistants, working out of the Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai. Originally responsible for repairing aircraft interiors, this team now focuses full-time on creating these collectible pieces following the success of the Aircrafted initiative and its children’s collection, Aircrafted KIDS.
The launch of the 2025 collection aligns with Emirates’ ongoing Retrofit Project, the largest fleet interior upgrade in the airline industry. Since August 2022, Emirates has embarked on a multi-billion-dollar refurbishment program of its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleets. The project includes installing nearly 4,000 new Premium Economy seats, refurbishing 728 First Class suites, and upgrading over 5,000 Business Class seats, enhancing the customer experience across the fleet.
