Zambia Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony at New Ambassador’s Residence in New York

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations held a flag-raising ceremony at the newly acquired official residence for the Ambassador in New York, marking a significant diplomatic milestone.

Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Dr Chola Milambo, described the event as historic, noting that the residence, purchased in August 2024, is the first to be acquired by the Mission since 1973, when the original home in Scarsdale was secured.

Dr Milambo emphasized the importance of professionalism, integrity and unity in the Mission’s operations and underscored the role of economic diplomacy in advancing Zambia’s global interests.

Delivering a vote of thanks, Mr Clever Kanyanta, President of the Zambia Family Organisation (ZFO), which represents the Zambian diaspora in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, expressed strong support for government programmes. He reaffirmed ZFO’s commitment to collaborating with the Mission.

The ceremony was attended by Mrs Pamela Kauseni, Director of the Population Department at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning; Ms Stenah Shampile, Chargé D’Affaires at the Mission; and Mrs Theresa Chanda, Assistant Director for International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with diplomatic staff, locally engaged personnel and friends of Zambia.
