Emirates Expands Premium Economy Offering to Maldives and Sri Lanka with Retrofitted Boeing 777
Emirates has enhanced its services to the Maldives and Sri Lanka by expanding its Premium Economy offering through the deployment of its retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft. The move reflects the airline’s ongoing commitment to delivering elevated travel experiences across its growing global network.
Passengers travelling between Dubai and Malé can now enjoy Emirates’ acclaimed Premium Economy service on three daily flights. Flights EK656/657 and EK660/661 will feature the newly configured Boeing 777, complete with refreshed interiors and four cabin classes. The offering includes wider seats, extra legroom, six-way adjustable headrests, and generous baggage allowances, promising added comfort for leisure and business travellers alike.
Beginning 18 July, Emirates will also introduce Premium Economy on flights EK650/651 between Dubai and Colombo, making it the second daily service to Sri Lanka equipped with this upgraded product. The route will be served by the four-class Boeing 777 alongside the Emirates A350, which already operates on flight EK654/655.
Currently, Emirates offers Premium Economy on over 40 routes worldwide. With the expanded rollout, travellers to both the Maldives and Sri Lanka can book a seamless, luxurious experience from departure to arrival.
The four-class Boeing 777 features 8 First Class suites, 40 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, 24 Premium Economy seats in a 2-4-2 layout, and 256 ergonomically designed Economy seats. Premium Economy customers benefit from up to 35kg of checked baggage and 10kg of carry-on allowance.
The airline’s enhanced Business Class experience draws inspiration from the A380, offering champagne accents, mini-bars, and 23-inch HD entertainment screens — among the largest in the sky.
Customers can book tickets via emirates.com, the Emirates App, travel agents, or at Emirates retail outlets.
This latest development is part of Emirates’ broader strategy to redefine mid-tier luxury travel and support growing demand for more flexible and affordable premium cabin choices.
