Call for Uniform Mineral Governance and Inclusive Development
To build a sustainable Mineral Wealth Fund that can support national economic stabilization, Zambia must establish uniform regulatory frameworks for all mineral substances.
Fragmented appeals particularly those led by individual traditional authorities risk fostering division and regional imbalance.
A consistent, transparent policy will enhance investor confidence and ensure all citizens benefit equitably from the country’s natural resources.
Furthermore, mining operations must prioritize inclusive local employment strategies that reflect the demographics of host communities. This approach not only promotes social harmony but also strengthens national unity.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should evolve from token gestures to robust, accountable partnerships that invest in infrastructure, education, health and environmental stewardship. These measures will enhance the legitimacy of extractive projects and ensure lasting value for all stakeholders.
A unified national vision grounded in fairness, inclusion and sustainability, is essential if Zambia is to fully unlock the transformative power of its mineral wealth.
