MTN Business and Cloudflare Launch Managed Security Services Across South Africa

MTN Business has announced a significant expansion of its strategic partnership with Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), becoming the first Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) in South Africa to offer Cloudflare’s cutting-edge Zero Trust and Application Services as a fully managed solution.

The collaboration brings a robust suite of cybersecurity tools to South African businesses, combining MTN’s regional network expertise with Cloudflare’s global infrastructure. This partnership enables organizations, both large enterprises and small businesses to access scalable, cloud-based security services that simplify operations and bolster protection against evolving cyber threats.

“In an era where digital operations are central to business, outdated legacy architecture no longer suffices,” said David Behr, Executive for MTN ICT Converged Solutions. “We are thrilled to pioneer Cloudflare’s MSSP model in South Africa, offering our clients market-leading cybersecurity protection and peace of mind.”

This move comes amid rising cyber risks and increasing complexity in hybrid work environments. Cloudflare reports its security systems are blocking millions of threats daily across Africa, highlighting the urgent need for reliable, integrated protection.

Through this partnership, MTN Business will offer Cloudflare’s Zero Trust solutions, which verify access at every point, and its Application Services, which accelerate and secure web apps. These tools are designed to work seamlessly with existing IT setups, minimizing disruption while maximizing protection and performance.

“Cloudflare’s connectivity cloud platform is uniquely suited to meet today’s cybersecurity needs through a unified, scalable solution,” said Tom Evans, Chief Partner Officer at Cloudflare. “Partnering with MTN allows us to extend enterprise-grade security to a broader range of African businesses, empowering them to thrive in a digital-first economy.”

The services will soon be rolled out to additional markets across Africa, signaling a major step forward in the continent’s digital resilience and business security capabilities.
