MSV Shaft Exceeds June Copper Output Target by 115 Tonnes Following Mindset Transformation

The Mindola Sub-Vertical (MSV) Shaft team at Mopani Copper Mines PLC has achieved a significant production milestone by surpassing its June copper output target by 115 tonnes. The team recorded 1,779 tonnes of contained copper against a forecast of 1,664 tonnes for the month of June 2025.

This outstanding performance follows the team’s participation in the TukaChimfya Pamo (TCP) cultural transformation and mindset change workshops held in May. The initiative, aimed at instilling a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement, is anchored on Mopani’s BEST values which stand for Businesswise, Enablement and Empowerment, Safety, Health and Environment consciousness, and Togetherness through teamwork.

Mopani’s Head of Mining, Mr. Vinod Jangir, applauded the MSV team for its exceptional performance, stating that it aligns with the company’s transformation agenda and vision of becoming a world-class mining operation.

He urged the team to consolidate their learnings, overcome operational challenges, and continue striving toward consistent performance in key areas such as safety, quality, production, and cost control.

“Kudos to the entire leadership and team for the exemplary performance last month. Let us define the strategy to overcome any remaining challenges and contribute towards Mopani’s vision of becoming BEST every day,” said Mr. Jangir.

MSV Underground Manager, Dr. Jairo Ndhlovu, also commended the team for their hard work and dedication. He called on them to maintain focus as they work toward the July 2025 target of 2,002 tonnes of contained copper.

“Thank you team for your hard work last month. The outlook for July is promising, and we must now shift our focus to surpassing the 2,002 tonnes target. We appreciate all your efforts,” Dr. Ndhlovu said.

This performance reflects the successful implementation of the Safe, Quality Daily Production (SQDP) model under the TCP initiative and the growing impact of culture-driven change across Mopani operations.

In a parallel development, a similar TCP alignment session is currently underway at the People Growth Centre (PGC) at Mindola Dam, involving the South Ore Body (SOB) team. The goal is to harmonise efforts and promote consistency across all Mopani mining units.
