ERB Announces Fuel Price Reduction for July 2025

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced a downward adjustment in fuel pump prices across the country for the month of July 2025, citing changes in global oil prices, exchange rate movements, and supply chain efficiencies.

According to the ERB, the price review is a result of multiple favorable developments since the last adjustment on 31 May 2025. International crude prices for refined products rose slightly, with Petrol increasing by 5.70%, Diesel by 6.30%, and Kerosene/Jet A-1 by 5.36%.

However, these increases were offset by the appreciation of the Zambian Kwacha against the US Dollar, which strengthened by 11.20% from K27.06/US$ to K24.03/US$ in June.

Additionally, the premiums on the Tanzanian Bulk Procurement System (BPS) declined significantly. The premium for Petrol dropped by 20.33%, and Kerosene/Jet A-1 by 5.64%.

Notably, the recently implemented TAZAMA Open Access pipeline system, which began operations in April 2025, contributed to a 0.42% reduction in Diesel premiums, further lowering importation costs.

As a result of these combined factors, the ERB has announced the following revised national pump prices effective from midnight, 30 June 2025:

  • Petrol: Reduced from K31.36 to K28.00/litre
  • Diesel: Reduced from K25.12 to K23.13/litre
  • Kerosene: Reduced from K24.79 to K21.98/litre
  • Jet A-1: Reduced from K27.08 to K23.94/litre

The ERB noted that the posted airfield prices (PAP) at key international airports have also been adjusted, with Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka) and Ndola both at K23.94/litre, Mfuwe at K27.18/litre, and Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (Livingstone) at K24.75/litre.

ERB Board Chairperson Mr. James Banda emphasized that these changes reflect the regulator’s commitment to ensuring fair and responsive pricing based on market trends and cost-saving mechanisms.
