Zambian Peacekeeper Killed, Another Injured in Attack in Central African Republic
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed an attack on Zambian peacekeepers in the Central African Republic, which resulted in the death of one soldier and the injury of another.
In an official statement issued by Maambo B. Haamaundu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, the Ministry extended its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased soldier.
The ministry also sent best wishes to the injured peacekeeper, who is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital following the attack on Friday.
The Ministry is working closely with the United Nations and the families of both soldiers to ensure that all necessary procedures are followed regarding the burial of the fallen soldier and the care of the wounded.
